The Goldworm Knitwear Company was founded in New York in 1928 by Gertrude Goldworm. In 1947, her sonRobert joined the company and became recognized as a talented knitwear designer. He traveled to Italy in search of quality hand finishing and Goldworm merged with a knitwear business owned by the Dragone Family. Soon after, his sister joined the company as head designer and helped turn classic knitwear into high fashion. The company received many honors and was the first American company to receive the Premio Mercurio D’oro, Italy’s highest award for commercial and economic success.
