1940’s reversible bomber jacket with railroad patch on chest and back of jacket. The jacket is a shiny blue satin with white stripes at the ribbed collar, cuffs, and waistband. There are two front pockets and the jacket has a snap closure. The reverse side of the jacket is a tan cotton fabric with solid blue collar, cuffs, and waistband. This side also has front pockets and a snap closure.
The patches are from the Wabash Railroad, a railroad that operated in the mid-central US. The Wabash name disappeared in the 60’s, but the company continued to exist on paper until being merged into the Norfolk Southern Railway in 1997. The front patch measures 2 3/4” wide and 2” high. The back patch measures 6 1/4” wide and 4 3/4” high.
This jacket best fits a modern size Medium; see measurements for best fit.
Chest: 44”
Waistband: 32”-36”
Shoulders: approximately 16”-17”
Sleeve length: 25”
Length: 25 1/4”
Condition: Great, but the jacket does show some wear-the ribbed cuffs and collar are worn, the 2nd snap down needs to be repaired, there is wear around the lower 4 snaps but all snaps work except the 2nd one down-The jacket has not been cleaned, so is in “as found” condition-the tan lining has some dirty spots (mostly around the pockets) Please see close up photos for condition. In the past, we would have thought the jacket needed to be cleaned and repaired before selling, but now we feel these flaws tell a bit of a story about the jacket, one being that it was well loved!
Model’s measurements are 34 bust, 26 waist, 39 hips, and she is 5’3” tall.
