1970’s Mollie Parnis halter maxi dress. The dress has a beautiful lace collar and a cute satin bow at the front waistline with a connected belt that wraps around and fastens in back. The dress fastens with a back zipper and hook and eye closure. The halter neckline fastens with a hook and eye closure. It looks like someone added a bit of elastic at the collar to extend the neckline, but this could be removed if not needed. There are two hidden front pockets!
Mollie Parnis began as a designer in the 20’s and by the 1940’s was designing under her own label. She dressed many First Ladies, including Mamie Eisenhower and Rosalynn Carter. She had a boutique label and a couture label. This piece is from the boutique label. You can see how well made this piece is and it does have a couture look and feel to it.
