Fabulous 1940’s Peasant Dress

Fabric: feels like a rayon blend
Details: Fabulous semi-sheer red dress with white embroidery around the neckline, arms, hem and on the two front pockets. There is a tasseled tie at the neckline. The dress fastens on the side with 4 snaps. The bodice is blousy with gathers and the skirt is pleated.
This dress reminds us of Hungarian dresses, but another vintage dealer suggested it was Guatemalan, so we aren’t sure. We just know that we haven’t found another dress like this and it is fabulous!
Condition: excellent, few loose embroidery threads and a faint brown spot on the back skirt (see close up photos)
