1950’s Red Princess Coat

This is a gorgeous bright red Princess style coat with black button accents.  The coat has a very fitted waist, a full tiered skirt, and amazing sleeves with shoulders that are a bit oversized.  The oversized shoulders and the full skirt accentuate the fitted waist.  There is a four button front and each cuff has two button accents.  All of the buttons are made up of tiny beads (see close up) except the very top button, which is faceted.  It was probably replaced at some point in the coat’s life.  The inside of the coat is as beautiful as the outside and has a tie on one side that goes through a loop on the other side to keep coat in place.  The lining is a dark salmon color with a sheen. There are two pockets and a shawl-like collar.  The coat is thick wool and is heavy and very warm.  You will definitely get attention when wearing this beauty!

Label:  Over Five-Seven Shop TALL (which is where the coat was originally purchased), and there is a Consumer Protection and National Recovery Board Coat & Suit Industry Label (this label was used from 1938-1964)

Condition:  Great, with a few tiny moth nibbles (no holes) in the first tiered panel on the right front side, and a few small faint spots near the bottom right front, there is also a repair on the inside near the union label,this small flaws do not detract from wearability and beauty of this piece
